How Your Fosse Septique Works
Wastewater Collection: Wastewater flows from your home’s plumbing fixtures into the septic tank.
Separation: Inside the tank, solids settle at the bottom (sludge), while lighter materials and grease (scum) float to the top. Bacteria aid in breaking down waste.
Treatment: Naturally occurring bacteria further break down solids into sludge and gases.
Effluent Discharge: The treated liquid (effluent) exits the tank and flows into the drainfield.
